Excellent hosts

Sergey Tabakov, judo professor, trophy-holder Russian strategist and the coach of the gold medal winner in the under 90 category, Dmitriy Gerasimenko did not try to hide his enthusiasm caused by the organization of Serbia Open Championship, as well as by the audience’s reaction in Belgrade.

-My competitor achieved an excellent result and I am satisfied –said Sergey Tabakov smiling. – Everything went well. Just like last year at the Universiade, you proved that you are excellent hosts. I wish to congratulate Mr. Ivan Todorov, who managed to gather a great team and to realize such a large sports-judo spectacle.

Just like young Dmitriy Gerasimenko, Sergey Tabakov will have only nice memories from Belgrade. At the Universiade in 2009 his competitor triumphed in the under 90 category. At Serbia Open 2010 Sergey Tabakov’s chosen man fulfilled the expectations once again, and not only those of his coach, but those of the audience who filled the hall in Šumice to the last place.

-I would say Serbia is happy for us. At the 2009 Universiade, just like now at Serbia Open, Gerasimenko won the gold medal, which is great. I am especially glad that your audience have their favourites and they are top competitors. Id does not matter where they come from. They become the favourites of the audience if they present excellent judo. This exact fact shows that you are a country which loves and knows how to recognize real values in our Olympic martial art.

After participating in Serbia Open, Sergey Tabakov and Dmitriy Gerasimenko stayed in Belgrade and participated in the training camp in Šumice.

- Not one opportunity to keep up good shape and practice with excellent sparring partners should be missed – said Tabakov and emphasized – I have a lot of friends in Serbia and that is why I come here often, and I will continue doing so in the future. Congratulations to the hosts on the excellently organized Serbia Open Championship and the fact that this championship is going to become a European Cup next year – concluded Sergey Tabakov.
